  • Abstract:

We investigate the timeseries properties of the Bitcoin trading volume and compare them with the properties of realized volatility. The Hurst exponent of the trading volume time seriesis greater than 1/2, which indicates that the time series is persistent. The generalized Hurst exponent of trading volume is not constant, indicating that the time series is multifractal. We find that the trading volume and realized volatility have similar time variations in the Hurst exponent. We also explore the properties of incremental time series and find that both the time series of trading volume and realized volatility exhibit a value smaller than 1/2, indicating that the time series are anti-persistent.We conclude that trading volume and realized volatilityare correlated in time to some extent and have similar time series properties.

Thin films of pure and Ag doped Cu2O have been deposited onto glass substrates by using electron beam evaporation. The as deposited films were characterized by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy andfour-probe technique. The intensity of peak decreased and peak width increased when Ag incorporated into Cu2O. The obtained average crystallite size values are 6, 5 and 7nm for pure, Ag 4at.% and Ag 8at.% doped Cu2O films. The Ag(4at.%) doped Cu2O films shows dense structure. The electrical resistivity of Ag doped Cu2O films are lower than the pure Cu2O films.

  • Abstract:

In this paper, NiTinol ( Ni56Ti44) alloy is fabricated using rotary friction welding process. Samples were welded by varying the spindle speeds at 1800 rpm, 1900 rpm and 2000 rpm respectively in a fully automated direct driven rotary friction welding machine having a capacity of 6 tonne. Annealing heat treatment was performed on friction welded NiTinol samples at 600º C for 1 hr followed by water quenching at room temperature. Ageing was carried out at 450ºC about 30 min. Tests were carried out to find the bending strength and thermal conductivity of the both un heat treated and heat treated samples. Morphological and microstructural analysis were carried out using SEM and EDS to find out the changes occurred in the un heat treated and heat treated samples. Research finding, reveals that an improvement in flexural strength is 31.58%, 26.32% and 27.78 % in heat treated samples compared to friction welded unheat treated samples. Thermal conductivity of the heat treated samples showed an improvement for the lower spindle speed of the welded samples ..

  • Abstract:

The variation in friction coefficient encountered during a seismic event has an impact on the hysteretic behavior of Double Curved Surface Slider isolators. This variability is affected by axial load, sliding velocity, temperature rise at the sliding surface as well as the cyclic degradation. In this study, the variation of the friction coefficient is investigated both experimentally and numerically. Various full-scale static and dynamic tests of Double Curved Surface Slider were conducted at the TREES Lab at EUCENTRE (Pavia, Italy) which is particularly designed in accordance with the most innovative technologies due to its high-performance equipment, enabling conducting both dynamic and static experimental studies on full scale prototypes, and consequently minimizing the correlation and interpretation uncertainties with real structural conditions. Based on the test results three closed formed equations have been statistically derived which enable the calculation of coefficient of friction for each cycle considering velocity, axial force and temperature variations

  • Abstract:

The existence of noisy occurrences in mobile phone data is a major issue for classifying user phone call behavior due to the various potential harmful implications (i.e., accept, reject, missed, and outgoing). The classifier complexity may increase and the classification accuracy may decrease as a result of the amount of redundant training data. To To find these noisy cases in a training dataset, researchers use naive Bayes. By adopting the premise of independence and conditional probability of the attributes, the Bayes classifier (NBC) finds instances that have been erroneously classified. Meanwhile, some of these incorrectly classified events may be indicative of particular mobile phone users' usage patterns and behavioral inclinations. Existing Naive Bayes classifier-based noise detection....

  • Abstract:

This report discusses the defects that can result from the fusion welding of metals and ways to prevent them. It begins with a brief introduction to welding and the different types of fusion welding. It then discusses the various defects that can occur, such as cracks, porosity, and slag inclusion. Finally, it offers recommendations on how to prevent these defects from occurring. Welding is a process of joining two pieces of metal together by heating them to a molten state and then cooling them, so they fuse together. There are many different types of welding, but the most common is fusion welding. In fusion welding, the heat is generated by an electric arc between the two pieces of metal. The heat from the arc melts the metal, and as the metal cools, it forms a bond between the two pieces. Various types of fusion welding include arc welding, oxy-fuel welding, and laser welding. Each type of welding has its advantages and disadvantages...

Heading training for a football game requires highly on the neck muscle force, according to the change of athletes' head and neck's acceleration in the process of heading. Based on the linear motor's characteristic which can realize large thrust, fast speed and high control precision in a short period of time, high power linear motor is used as power element of the high acceleration load heading training device. Two stepper motors are used to construct a pose adjustment platform to imitate the scene of soccer players heading the ball in different directions and angles. In order to achieve accurate control and data visualization, the upper computer control software is written in C# language, which can set the loading training parameters and display the changes of data in the loading process in real time. Finally, a dummy experiment was carried out to verify the feasibility of the scheme.

Water scarcity and the shortage of potable water in most world regions are considered a significant challenge to scientists and researchers, hence more efforts needed to address the problem. The sole available solution today is using desalination technologies, which work to extracts freshwater or distillate water from seawater or brackish water. Applied desalination technologies can be divided into two main groups, thermal and membrane-based desalination technologies. Membrane technologies today are performing well against the thermal desalination and have registered higher thermal efficiency recently. The reverse osmosis (RO) technology is the most common among membrane-based desalination processes, which is considered the most predominant in the desalination market worldwide. For air dehumidification, liquid desiccant systems or solid desiccant systems. Can be used. A liquid desiccant air conditioning system is drawing more and more attention in recent years. Using liquid can reduce latent heat to improve energy consumption in air-conditioning. The aim of dehumidification process is to remove the water vapour from the processed air to liquid desiccants. Dehumidification is considered as a key feature of HVAC systems for thermal comfort. Chemical dehumidification can remove the water vapour from the air by transferring it towards a desiccant material (absorption or adsorption). Results illustrate that the application of liquid desiccant in air-conditioning can improve indoor air quality by removes moisture and latent and sensible heats, reduce energy consumption from 25% - 35% (KWh) and bring environmentally friendly products

  • Abstract:

Groundwater from the quartenaire and terminal continental aquifers is collected in boreholes by the Nationale Water Company of Benin named SONEB, as a source of supply for the population of the Porto-Novo agglomeration in Benin. Despite numerous efforts to maintain the normal operation of the system, the quantities of water produced are insufficient to cover the growing demand. The aim of this study is to improve the productivity of all these boreholes. The approach used consists of a comparative analysis using hydrodynamic, physico-chemical and bacteriological data of the captured waters. The percentage of total exploitation flow of 72.87% suggests that the system's catchment works are under-utilized. Also, the daily water production of the plant represents only 9.9% of the national average. In addition, the estimate of the transmissivity of the aquifers collected shows that the quaternary aquifer has a low water transmission capacity, which may be the cause of the drop in productivity......

  • Abstract:

This report discusses the manufacturing errors in measuring devices, their impact on measurement work, and their accuracy. It begins by outlining the different errors that can occur in measuring instruments before discussing how these errors can impact measurement work. The report then provides recommendations for minimizing these errors' impact. A manufacturing error is a mistake that occurs while manufacturing a product. Errors can range from minor to major defects that render the product unusable. There are a variety of causes for manufacturing errors, which can be prevented through the use of quality control measures. Inaccurate measurements can lead to inaccuracies in the manufacturing process, which can cause products to be produced that do not meet the required specifications. Poorly written......

  • Abstract:

Plasma nitriding increases tool steels life. In the Steady-State of wear (SSW) the wear coefficient (k - wear rate) as a function of the sliding distance and applied load does not change and allows the development of mathematical models to predict the wear behavior of the material under the test conditions. The AISI D2 steel was plasma nitrided at 480°C (80%N2/20%H2) for 4h. The nitrided layer has a thickness of 80μm and a composite layer of 2.46μm. The increase in hardness in the nitrided sample improved the wear resistance of the material studied. In addition, it was possible to obtain the SSW of the material and determine the constant k through mathematical models that allow the prediction of wear behavior. Thus, plasma nitriding treatment was effective to improve the wear resistance of AISI D2, and SSW is an important parameter to predict the wear behavior of materials.

  • Abstract:

This paper proposes a solar photovoltaic (PV) based on high-quality inverter powered by a used brushless DC (BLDC) engine. Demand for electricity around the world is constantly growing and conventional power sources are declining, moreover, their price is rising. For all these reasons, the need for another source of energy is needed and solar energy seems to be another promising alternative due to its existence and pollution associated with nature. A multi-level inverter is used to drive the BLDC engine. Power inverter is provided by solar PV and high power point tracking (MPPT) system. The unpredictable state of PV production times is solved using a single-phase AC grid as a given external power supply. The range of PV cannot meet the energy requirement required for the required power to be obtained with a modified boost factor (PFC) converter. The proposed multi-level converter has a sub-transformer type and this system is used to meet power quality standards. MATLAB / Simulink-based simulation and performance analysis are performed to visualize system performance..

  • Abstract:

Work fatigue problems occur in various industrial sectors, including the mining industry. The research location is in a mining company at East Borneo. The research population is the 43 operator of the Komatsu HD785 Dump Truck. Measurement of subjective fatigue was measured by the Karolinska Sleepiness Scale and Fatigue-Visual Analogue Scale. Data analysis techniques are descriptive analysis and multiple linear regression. The results of the study show that in general, based on the graph of the KSS and F-VAS values, over time the level of employee fatigue will increase and reach the peak of fatigue just before rest time (12:00). After resting the level of fatigue will decrease and over time until the end of the shift, the level of fatigue will increase. This model of the relationship between Speed and Productivity with KSS and F-VAS can be negative or positive for different times of the day

  • Abstract:

Heat treatment process is the process of heating the material below its melting point, and then cooling in a control manner to achieve the required certain properties. There are different types of heat treatment, which consists of annealing, normalizing, hardening, and/or tempering. One of the most important material that used in cutting applications and treated by one or more heat treatment methodology is Tungsten carbide (WC). It is equal parts of tungsten and carbon atoms. The heat treatment process have significant effect on the mechanical properties of the tungsten carbide. So, Six samples of coarse grains of WC and WC-Co were prepared by different heat treatment processes; quenching, quenching + annealing in order to select the most proper heat treatment technique to enhance the hardness. All samples specimens were tested; and WC composed with 10%wt of Cobalt; treated by quenching + annealing; was found the most proper material to be used as cutting tools because it has the highest hardness

  • Abstract:

To meet the demands of depleting fuel and prevent environmental pollution, an IC engine is designed where Hydrogen is chosen as fuel which undergoes combustion with oxygen and does not emit harmful by-products. It is a clean fuel since its final product is water. This innovative concept involves use of hydrogen as the fuel in IC engine without using a very expensive and bulky hold-up tank for storing liquid hydrogen. A water tank is used as the origin of the hydrogen. A pair of electrodes will be used inside the tank with more area exposing the surface for ionizing the water and generating the oxygen and hydrogen as fast as possible. The mixed gas with oxygen and hydrogen will be directed to the engine with a sealed pipe. The engine will work analogously to a normal gasoline

  • Abstract:

Closed loop Pulsating heat pipes (CLPHP) are emerged as heat transfer devices which are an alternative to conventional heat transfer technologies. The present paper a statistical approach-Taguchi method is adopted to optimize the parameters in order to improve the quality. To study the performance parameters an orthogonal array, analysis of variance and ANOVA are employed. By varying input parameters and by considering L9 orthogonal array analysis is made. Analysis of variance (ANOVA) is performed to determine the optimum levels for minimizing the thermal resistance of the working fluids. By plotting graphs the optimum parameters values are obtained. From the results the most significant parameter that influences performance of CLPHP is heat input. As Heat input increases thermal resistance decreases. The results are verified with experimental work carried out on an 8-turn pulsating heat pipe
