  • Abstract:

In today's world the Indian railways are the enormous rail passenger transport and it is the hardihood of the country transport infrastructure. One of the most widely used and comfortable mode of transportation system is train, but sporadically, accidents are occurring due to collision as well as some other cause. The major worry about a railway analysis is detection of cracks in the structure. If these deficiencies are not controlled at early stages they might lead to a number of derailments resulting in a heavy loss of life. This paper proposes a cost effective solution to the problem of railway track crack detection using MEMS, ARM 7 and GPS module which tracks the location of track damage. Track damage status is monitored by the sensor and wireless modules, when the sensor not getting signal, immediately notifies and alert or informs to the current train or authority people on the track..

  • Abstract:

Hybrid Microwave sintering has become a growing interest for heating and synthesizing ceramic materials due to its capabilities in successfully enhancing densification and improving mechanical and structural properties. Silicon Nitride (Si3N4) based cutting inserts have outstanding properties for machining hard materials such as cast iron, hard steel and nickel based super alloys. This research aims to analyze the effect of different susceptors on the tool life of various Si3N4 inserts (90Si3N4 4Y2O3 2.5MgO 2Al2O3 1.5SiO) that have been synthesized in machining Inconel 718. The Si3N4 inserts have been synthesized by means of Hot Isostatic Pressing (HIP) at 1800°C and followed by Hybrid Microwave (HMW) post-sintering at 200°C for 10 minutes with the aid of three different susceptors; Silicon Carbide (SiC), Graphite (G) and mixture of (SiC + G) powders. Density, hardness, micro structural properties and tool wear were analyzed. HMW post sintering for only 10 minutes using SiC, G and SiC+G susceptors enhanced the density (97-98%TD) and hardness (27-58%) significantly. Finer uniform grains......

In today's world every product ranging from a safety pin to huge complex aircraft engines are all manufactured by various manufacturing techniques. It involves various processes like casting, forming, machining, welding etc. Complex machines have numerous parts and elements which may be asymmetric; irregular shaped and might have a different cross-sectional profile. Manufacturing these complex and intricate shaped components to required dimensional accuracy and good surface finish is a tough task and requires use of various processes like machining, bending etc. This induces some amount of residual stresses in the machine component, and thereby makes it more susceptible to catastrophic failure. To minimize these losses and produce irregular shaped components more efficiently, a unique sand casting process is explained in this paper which makes.....

With the aim to manage and retrieve the organizational knowledge, in the last years numerous proposals of models and tools for knowledge management and knowledge representation have arisen. However, most of them store knowledge in a non-structured or semi-structured way, hindering the semantic and automatic processing of this knowledge. In this paper we present a summary of an case-based organizational memory ontology, which aims at contributing to the design of an organizational memory based on cases, so that it can be used to learn, reasoning, solve problems, and as support to better decision making as well. In order to illustrate its utility a practical case using the weather radar (WR) data of the Experimental Agricultural Station (EAS) INTA (La Pampa State, Argentina) is shown. Text similarity targets are commonly used to train modern picture captioning algorithms. Models trained with text similarity objectives, on the other hand, tend to disregard unique and nuanced characteristics of a picture that distinguish it from others, because reference captions in public datasets generally identify the most conspicuous common things. We suggest leveraging CLIP, a multimodal encoder trained on large image-text pairings from the web, to calculate multimodal similarity and utilize it as a reward function in order to generate more detailed and distinctive captions. During the incentive calculation, this eliminates the requirement for reference captions entirely. We offer FineCapEval, a novel dataset for caption evaluation with fine-grained criteria: overall, background, object....

  • Abstract:

In this work, Computational Fluid Dynamics analysis has been conducted for the fluid flow in absorber tube of a parabolic trough collector with and without insertions. This project aims to improve the efficiency of the heat transfer rate from the absorber tube wall to the working fluid by using various types of inserts and internal fins. Some of the methods of increasing the efficiency of the heat transfer rate to the working fluid are: - (1) increasing the contact area of fluid with absorber tube, (2) using some obstacles such as insertion which increases the residual time of fluid and thus reducing pressure across the tube, (3) decreasing the velocity of the working fluid. The analysis has been carried out to study the effect of heat transfer in absorber tubes with various types of insertion profile and also to compare the results with absorber tube without insertion.

  • Abstract:

In this study, we analyze one of the great enigmas of the Standard Model of Cosmology, which is constituted by what has been termed: Dark Matter, and which is also termed: the Missing Mass. The non-universality of the laws of traditional Celestial Mechanics that are valid in the Solar System, is established in former term. Subsequently, the appropriate mathematical expressions of the gravitational force that rules the Galactic Systems, as well as the galaxy clusters, are deduced. Finally, the true result is obtained, that it is not necessary to postulate the existence of that strange substance which is known as Dark Matter in order to justify the curve of radial galactic velocities. It is found that the experimental results, the measurements of the speeds of the stars in the galaxies, have a mathematical explanation with a different Celestial Mechanics as is established in this paper..

This paper proposes a genetic algorithm approach for university timetable scheduling problem. The semester timetable of the Faculty of Technology, Rajarata University of Sri Lanka was scheduled using the above algorithm as a case study. Faculty of Technology lacks many of the resources such as lecture halls and laboratories because it is a newly established faculty. When scheduling the timetable for this specific case study there were more constraints to satisfy than a general timetable scheduling problem. Manual scheduling of the timetables prone to many issues such as long time and effort, favoritism to one or more of the staff members, human errors, non-optimal solutions, conflict of interest. The process can be very complexsince there are a lot of constraints to consider. The main objective of the research is to come up with an algorithm to optimize the resources at hand while satisfying all the hard constraints and most of the soft constraints..

Aerodynamics is the science of how air flows around and inside objects. More generally, it can be labeled "Fluid Dynamics" because air is really just a very thin type of fluid. Above slow speeds, the air flow around and through a vehicle begins to have a more pronounced effect on the acceleration, top speed, fuel efficiency and handling. Therefore, to build the best possible car we need to understand and optimize how the air flows around and through the body, its openings and its aerodynamic devices.

Apple's known to be a company which embraces in-house technology. While other companies outsource, Apple likes to keep things in-house whenever potential and therefore the chips found in iOS devices are no exception whereas other smartphones makers rely on Qualcomm, Mediatek and Intel for chipsets. Apple houses its own team of engineers to work on designs exclusive to their devices and it all began in 2008 when Apple purchased a small semiconductor company called P. A. Semi (i.e. Palo Alto Semiconductor). With a continuous thrive to push the human race forward, Apple‟s been exploiting the smartphones industry to the very limits possible. The first "Systems on Chip" (SoC) was used in the first iPhone in 2007 it was called the APL0098. A12X, which is the latest chipset by Apple, stands out to be the most advanced processor ever found on a Smartphone. The latest generation of Apple processors are manufactured by TSMC.

  • Abstract:

Image de-noising is a serious challenge in image processing techniques. Noise is broadly categorised as additive and multicative noises. In this paper we will discuss about Gaussian noise, salt and pepper noise, speckle noise and poisson noise. Naturally Images contain some amount of noise. But it's very difficult to denoise it. So blind deconvolution is used. Therefore simulated noise is added to the image to understand the process of denoising. Because after the addition of above mentioned noises if any other transformation or processing is done to the image then the corresponding noises will also be changed. There we will face difficulties to denoise if you don't know the type of noise. So a known noise is added to the image before processing. now let us come to the denoising methods, Out of different available method wavelet thresholding method is one of the important approaches for image de-noising. In this paper we propose an adaptive method of image de-noising in the wavelet sub-band domain assuming the images.....

  • Abstract:

This work investigates the performance of a horizontal axis wind turbine (HAWT) with variable blade pitch control mechanism. The control mechanism is a simple mechanical Watt governor design, which was developed to regulate the blade pitch angle of the HAWT. This depends on the magnitude of the wind speed that will be subjected to the turbine. A scale down of 1:10 blade geometry as designed and developed by the Author's previous work was used for the HAWT model. The HAWT model performance was tested in a wind tunnel that was developed specifically in order to carry out the experimental test. Parameters measured are the generator output voltage and rotor speed, which were based on the wind speed that was also regulated accordingly. The experimental test carried out shows that.......

  • Abstract:

This work aims to demonstrate the application of the process of geopolymerization to the manufacture of the soil-cement block (SCB) in order to obtain a geopolymerized soil block (GSB), since the production of soil blocks, stabilized with Portland cement and compacted manually constitutes an alternative to the construction of low-cost housing projects. Inorganic geopolymers, on the other hand, result from a chemical reaction known as geopolymerization. They are materials of remarkable hardness and mechanical resistance, as well as long-term durability. Geopolymers can be manufactured out of locally available, low-cost raw materials. Hardening a geopolymer compound takes a lot less energy than it does for its counterpart. Geopolymers can harden in a matter of a few hours at temperatures between 50 and 80 Celsius degrees. Besides, the BSG, due to their lower environmental impact, promise to become a key component in the development of sustainable cities, which each time exploit less of their own non-renewable resources..

  • Abstract:

In order to realize reusable launch vehicle, flight attitude control system is important. Dynamic inversion (DI) theory is known well as nonlinear control theory. DI theory can cancel the nonlinear dynamics and linearize the input and output maps. Therefore, closed loop analysis through flight trajectory becomes easier than other control systems, e.g. gain tuning method. When we use DI theory, we must know certain dynamics models. However, since modeling errors necessarily arise, ensuring robustness is important. Even using DI theory, stability margins cannot be uniquely determined because the loop is opened when we calculate stability margins. In this paper, the authors propose the stability margin guaranteeing method for flight control system using DI theory. In this article the authors propose the new evaluation function for guaranteeing required stability margin. By onboard design variable tuning, all stability margins become larger than required ones.

  • Abstract:

A number of 22 polyheteroarylenes including 18 polyimides, divided in five series, were studied with regard to the dependence of permeability, diffusion and solubility coefficients of gases on the reverse value of fractional accessible volume. It was shown that all these dependences are linear in semilogarithmic coordinates. Thus, the overal selectivity, which is determined by the slope of these dependences, is correlated with the free volume in each series of polymers. The introduction of volumetric bridging groups into the diamine component with the possibility of rotation around bonds with the polymer backbone near the bridge leads to an increase in the overall selectivity of permeability, diffusion and solubility of the polymer at sufficiently high values of the permeability, diffusion and solubility coefficients..

While the Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission (JNNSM) opened up the solar electricity sector in India, the focus has primarily been on large-scale grid-connected power plants. With the drastic fall in prices of solar photovoltaic (PV) modules and balance of systems (BOS) Roof top PV(RTPV) systems can offer substantial benefits in terms of providing peaking supply ofpower, reducing T&D losses, improving tail end voltages, and creating local jobs. Roof top PV system is ideally suited for India, since it is socially equitable, economically viable, and environmentally sustainable (through the use of solar PV, a renewable resource in the grid-connected mode, thus avoiding the use of batteries). In this paper, we discuss the need for and advantages of emphasizing rooftop PV with net-metering as a self consumption power source in India, especially in large cities.

  • Abstract:

Mechanism transferring torque from one rotating shaft to another and in particular to a transmission mechanism that willenable an engine or motor to deliver power to a load at optimum torque and speed levels. The relationship between the stress andtransmissionwhich is based on the results of two different mass strategies with dynamometer and motor is constructed to test thetransmission to speed the results of those tests which shows the efficient at low input torque levels. To understand the descriptions of a newmechanism for design and construct a virtual prototype in the computer environment and finally to propose modifications to improve theoriginaldesign.

  • Abstract:

In the present study a modest attempt has been made to develop aluminum based silicon carbide particulate Metal MatrixComposites(MMC) with an objective to develop a conventional low cost method of producing MMCs and to obtain homogenousdispersion of ceramic material. Desired improvements in properties including specific strength, hardness and impact can be achieved byintelligently selecting the reinforcement materials, their size, and shape and volume fraction. It has been observed that melting andpouring conditions have directly or indirectly effect on mechanical properties of cast materials as hardness, percentage elongation, percentage reduction in diameter, toughness and so on. The knowledge of melting temperature of metals and alloys is necessary toestimatetheircorresponding pouring temperature..

Goodmechanicalandthermalpropertiesofhybridmetalmatrixcompositesmakethemmoredemandinginvariousfieldss uch as automotive, aerospace and structural applications. In this paper an effort has been made to fabricate a hybridmetal matrix composite, silicon carbide and titanium diboride reinforced in Al 6061 matrix using stir casting method.Microstructure and mechanical properties such as micro hardness and wear are studied for various compositions ofreinforcements, 10% SiC and 2.5%, 5% and 10% TiB₂. The results indicate that the hardness value increases with theaddition of the SiC and TiB₂ reinforcements to matrix Al6061, while the wear resistance increases up to certain amountandreduces drasticallywhencrossed the transitionload..
